Although it’s called a “tamper,” it’s not for tamping—it’s used to break up clumps and distribute the coffee evenly in the portafilter before tamping. The result? By rotating the C3 needle tool a few times in the portafilter, the coffee clumps are effectively broken up, and the small needles ensure even distribution without compressing the coffee.
